A practical introduction to the magical world of wine is being promised in a new masterclass to be held in January and February.
This wine seminars and masterclasses are offered by Spectus Wine School, starting with the popular classes on The World of Wine and the Art of Wine Appreciation, which will take in Limassol and Nicosia at the fully equipped training rooms of the Spectus shops from January.
The classes have been running with great success since 1997 and more than 2,600 people have followed them so far.
The wine courses, in both Greek and English, are for people who enjoy wine and would like to learn more about it, regardless of whether they have previous wine tasting experience or not.
Participants will learn by tasting more than 70 wines from different varieties, and by doing so will get to know a lot more about the subject in a relaxed and friendly environment which may also pave the way to get to know a number of like-minded people.
“We understand that many people have hectic schedules, therefore the course is flexible on dates and you can also redeem missed sessions at a later stage,” the organisers explained. “Simply give us three working days’ notice, and we will transfer you onto the next session, when it rolls around.
“We run this course in Greek language regularly and in English, once we have a group of about 15 people.”
During the six sessions, wines from the world’s major wine regions by famous winemakers will be introduced, while participants are also taught how to pair their favourite wines with their favourite foods.
They should be able to identify any possible faults, such as corkage, in the wine like true professionals.
You will not only know how to use the right wine vocabulary, learn to recognise and select value for money wines but also develop your sense of smell!
Apart from all these advantages, the transformation from clueless amateur to knowledgeable connoisseur also promises to save you money as you will no longer buy an expensive bottle of wine that is not worth the expense. Instead you will know exactly what to look for while shopping for the perfect wine to accompany your meal.
Professional ISO tasting glasses, comprehensive tasting notes, booklets and food are provided during the seminar.
The total duration of the six sessions is about 21-22 hours. A Spectus certificate of success is handed out upon conclusion of the course.
