Short circuit blaze damages five cars

A short circuit in the engine of a parked vehicle on Friday evening caused it to burst into flames which spread to four adjacent vehicles.

The cars were parked in a covered parking area owned by the private company Parking Services in Meneou, located near Larnaca airport’s fuel storage area.

The fire service rushed to the scene with three trucks, placing the fire under control by 6.30pm.

Three vehicles were seriously damaged in the blaze.

Preliminary examinations by members of the police and the department of electromechanical services determined the cause of fire to be a short circuit in the engine of one of the cars.
