4 million people have used Tymbou airport so far this year

Approximately four million passengers used Tymbou airport in the north between January and November this year, reports said on Saturday.

According to daily Halkin Sesi, around 3.5 million passengers arrived in the north through scheduled flights at Tymbou airport, and 218,972 on chartered ones. Another 1,645 passengers flew by private flights.

The majority of the 24,744 flights that took place during the period were scheduled routes, while there were also 1,715 charter flights and 695 private flights.

‘Transport Minister’ Tolga Atakan reportedly told ‘parliament’ on Friday that they were looking into the construction of a railway linking areas in the north with the new terminal being constructed at Tymbou.

‘Tourism Minister’ Fikri Ataoglou, also speaking in ‘parliament’ during the discussion of his ‘ministry’s’ budget, announced that he is making efforts for the increase of flights and that within two to three months the Turkish company Anadolu Jet will resume flights to and from the north and this will lead to a reduction in the price of air tickets.
