Five years jail for cannabis possession

A 35-year-old Limassol resident was jailed for five years by the Limassol criminal court on Wednesday for the possession of 1.73 kilos of cannabis.

On 20 August 2017, the drug squad had signalled the 35-year-old to stop while he was driving in a village of the Limassol district, but the driver sped up in an attempt to get away, which resulted in the 35-year-old crashing his car into a police car.

Police investigations which followed found in the 35-year-old’s home 1.73kgs of cannabis, a number of mobile phones, an amount of cash and one electronic scale.
