Elderly woman dies hours after being hit by car

A 72-year-old woman died on Monday afternoon a few hours after being hit by a car while trying to cross a street in Paphos.

Myrofora Aresti was hit by a car driven by a 47-year-old woman while crossing a street in Episkopi village in Paphos. The accident occurred at around 1pm.

Aresti was transferred to the Paphos general hospital where she died some five hours later.

The driver of the vehicle, who had initially abandoned the scene but went back around half an hour later, was arrested.
