Apoel beat Omonia in Nicosia derby

Apoel beat arch-rivals Omonia 2-0 at the GSP stadium in Nicosia in the Cyprus football championship on Monday night.

Leonardo Natel opened the scoring for the champions in the 32nd minute, with Moussa Al Tamari adding a second 11 minutes into the second half.

The three points see Apoel climb up to second in the table, level on 16 points with Apollon, having played a game more.

AEL lead the way on 19 points, while Omonia remain eighth – a massive 13 points behind.
