Foreign minister’s meeting with US deputy FM postponed

The meeting between the foreign minister, Nikos Christodoulides, and deputy US foreign minister, Wes Mitchell, has been postponed until after November 6 when Christodoulides is scheduled to travel to the US.

It emerged on Monday that the meeting between Christodoulides and Mitchell, scheduled for November 1 in Nicosia, was postponed due to difficulties faced by the deputy US foreign minister to incorporate Cyprus into his tour in the region.

While the new date has not been confirmed, diplomatic sources told the CNA later on Monday that the meeting would possibly take place in Washington after Christodoulides’ planned visit to New York on November 6.

According to CNA, Christodoulides will travel to New York on November 6, when he will be meeting with the United States ambassador to the United Nations.

Christodoulides will then travel to Washington where he is set to meet his US counterpart, Mike Pompeo, and possibly Wes Mitchell.
