Bad weather cuts power to Limassol villages (Updated)

Sixteen communities in the Limassol district were left without electricity for several hours on Wednesday after bad weather damaged the EAC grid.

EAC spokesperson, Christina Papadopoulou, told the Cyprus Mail that crews were working to restore the damage that affected the eastern mountainous areas of Limassol.

Among the affected villages are Eptagonia, Parekklisia, Pyrgos Lemesou, Sanida, Kellaki, Arakapas, Dierona, Profitis Elias, Vasa Kellakiou and Prastio Kellakiou.

According to the EAC website, the power cut occurred at around 3.30pm in most villages. By 10.30pm, power was restored to all affected communities, according to the website.

Part of the community of Deftera in the Nicosia district, was also without electricity for three hours on Wednesday afternoon after a number of electricity cables were found severed, possibly due to a car accident.
