Tobacco seized at airport

Authorities seized more than 93 kilogrammes of tobacco found in the luggage of two people who arrived at the Larnaca airport from Moscow, the customs department said on Saturday.

The two, both permanent residents of Cyprus, were initially arrested for the illegal possession of duty-free goods and for avoiding to pay the due tax and duties.

They were released after paying €25,000 including the payable tax for the goods and fines.
