Co-op robbery suspect to be tried in September

One of the suspects for the Cooperative Bank robbery at Ayios Athanasios, Limassol will face trial at Limassol criminal court, set to begin in September, it was decided on Tuesday.

Charalambos Kaloyerides, 33, is facing 10 charges including conspiring to commit a crime, armed robbery, illegal possession of a gun and explosives, as well as charges relating to stealing a car he used during the robbery, which he later set on fire.

The robbery took place on March 6 at the Ayios Athanasios branch of the Co-op.

Limassol district court decided the case will go to criminal court which will convene on September 13. He will be held in custody until then.

Police are still searching for a 34-year-old man, Haris Sarides, in connection with the case.
