It’s a bluesy kind of festival

It is the season for festivals. Annual festivals, music festivals, cinema festivals, theatre festivals and even festivals that will join the festival carousel for the first time. Once such event, the two-day Sarama Blues Festival, will get its feet wet on Friday and Saturday from 7pm.

The festival will feature five bands at the Yurts in Cyprus, set in the picturesque Sarama Valley. The festival atmosphere will begin with the Silesa Blues Group from Poland, Pokoj Numer 3 also from Poland and local band Black Anis.

The Silesia Blues Group was founded in 2003 since when some of the best Polish blues and rock musicians have performed with this band.

Pokoj Numer 3 was founded in 2015 in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The band comprises young musicians fascinated by blues and rock, but who are also influenced by the south and country in their music. The band released a studio album in 2017 and is currently in the process of recording their second one.

Black Anis is a five-piece band formed in 2016. Their music is a blend of blues-rock, drawing influences from southern rock and incorporating elements from 90s trip-hop. Their playlist includes original compositions as well as covered songs adjusted to their style.

The bluesy atmosphere will continue on Saturday with local bands Ravens Reign and The Great Flood. Pokoj Numer 3 and the Silesia Blues Group will also be around for a second day.

Ravens Reign, based in Nicosia, is a four-member blues and rock band. Each member of the band brings along personal experience of blues, jazz, rock and funk to create an explosive experience on stage.

The Great Flood, also from Nicosia, released their first studio album last year. Their style is blues and rock’n’roll. The band will perform original songs and covers.
