No danger from Limassol gas leak, authorities say

The fire department on Thursday acted swiftly to contain a gas leak from cylinders outside the port of Limassol.

The cylinders in question were being cooled as a precaution against a possible explosion, fire department spokesman Andreas Kettis said.

The cooling process would take time but there was no danger to the public, he added.

Reports said the cylinders contained acetylene or carbon dioxide.
