Flack’s festive performance

You might want to book this one early – because, with the music being so fresh and the beer being so cool, the Aphrodite Rock Brewery Christmas Party featuring live music by singer Aimie Flack is likely to sell out fast.

For those who have a love/hate relationship with Christmas, the two-course meal together with Flack’s entertaining performance is sure to weigh the scales down on the love side.

Flack, from Farnborough in Hampshire, started singing at a young age. She may not have any formal musical training but that didn’t stop her from joining a girl band called Cookie at the age of 18. “The band was the warm-up act for Girls Aloud and we also had a single out and a music video called ‘Do It Again’,” Flack recalls.

She was with the band for two years and, shortly before moving to our island, she also did a number of recordings as a solo artist in London. “I was in the studio next to Bruno Mars, who I also got to meet,” the singer said.

In her solo gigs on our island she performs a wide range of songs in a wide range of styles. As she wittily puts it: “Old, new, that’s what I do.” Once she has a feel for the crowd she also likes to have fun with them, and is also known to have a little boogie on stage.
