Anastasiades to meet ENI chief

Details of which wells ENI will be drilling next, and when, could emerge from Friday’s scheduled meeting between the company’s CEO Claudio Descalzi and President Nicos Anastasiades.

Media reports suggested ENI’s next target will be located in block 6, followed by another drill in either block 8 or 2.

Anastasiades and Descalzi are also set to discuss the broader ramifications, since France’s oil and gas multinational Total are partners along with Italy’s ENI in block 6.

On Thursday, energy minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis held a preparatory meeting with Luca Bertelli, ENI’s Chief Exploration Office.

Lakkotrypis told Sigmalive that following the meet he obtained a “full picture” of the sequence and dates of ENI’s drilling schedule.

Also on Thursday, the minister with representatives of Union Fenosa Gas, operators of the Damietta LNG plant in Egypt.

Cyprus is looking to export to Egypt the approximately 4.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas discovered in late 2011 in the ‘Aphrodite’ reservoir in block 12, operated by Texas-based Noble Energy.
