Nicosia district clean town awards

Eight local government authorities in the Nicosia district won first place for cleanliness as part of a campaign launched by the district administration, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Nicosia district administration awarded the villages of Anayia, Analyontas, Apliki, Galata, Mathiatis, Nikitari, Potamia and Psimolofou the first prize for cleanliness as part of this year’s clean town campaign.

A committee of the Nicosia district administration visited all villages, an announcement said, and decided to give the second prize to Agia Varvara, Akaki, Vyzakia, Dhenia, Episkopi, Kannavia, Kato Pyrgos and Moutoulas.

The third prize goes to Agia Irini Xyliatou, Gouri, Klirou, Linou, Mitsero, Xyliato, Politiko and Anthoupolis refugee estate.

The community board of the Agrokipia, received an award for the best green space, while the Cyprus Tourism Organisation award for voluntary service is awarded to the Potamia community council.

The winners will receive their awards at a ceremony that is to take place later in the month.
