Archbishop forgoes Sisi speech after parking spat

Archbishop Chrysostomos was reportedly furious on Monday after he was refused permission to park right outside parliament due to security reasons ahead of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s address to plenum.

According to a report on Sigmalive, the archbishop wanted to sit in during Sisi’s speech, who is on an official visit to the island, but security told his driver no cars were permitted in parliament’s parking area.

The archbishop cited his back problems but was also refused permission to be driven outside parliament’s main entrance.

According to Sigmalive, he was so infuriated he left the scene without attending the speech.
