Knowing thy artistic self

With the new year just around the corner it might be time to start thinking about what we didn’t make time for in 2017 and what we want to make sure we have time for in 2018.

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions for a large number of us, connecting more with ourselves and having time to dedicate to learning something new is often at the top of the list.

One such way of spending time with ourselves while educating ourselves is being part of workshops. The Diatehnon Arts and Cultural centre in Limassol specialises in just this. Since September 2014, the centre at the Old Limassol Municipal Market, has been offering instrument making, ceramic, icon painting and visual culture workshops.

At the end of the instrument making workshop, you will have made your very own instrument using the traditional method and following the steps of experienced instrument maker Andrea Leonidou.

If music isn’t your thing and you prefer ceramics, professional ceramist Ewelina Birut-Hadjimanolis can take both beginners and advanced learners on a ceramic experience ride.

The icon painting workshop does away with the stereotypical approach of copying older examples of icons. It rather promotes a creative and expressive approach in icon painting and is led by painter Manolis Hadjimanolis.

The visual culture workshop aims to cultivate visual perception and awaken the personal expression within, through the art experience. So it is perfect for letting off a bit of personal stress while also seeing where your artistic self will take you.
