Elderly man killed crossing road

An 80-year-old man from Nicosia died on Monday after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Ayios Dometios.

According to police, the octogenarian, Georgios Yiannakou, was hit at around 6pm by a car driven by a 57-year-old man while crossing Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue.

Yiannakou was transferred to the Nicosia general hospital where he died about an hour later.
