Police clamp down on parking violations

Over the past 21 months, police have issued more than 21,000 tickets for illegal parking across the country.
So far this year – up until September 30 – the number of parking violations reached 9,812.
During 2016, police issued 11,924 parking tickets.
Cypriot motorists were also incorrigible when it came to respecting parking spaces reserved for the disabled.
During the first nine months of this year, 1,564 tickets were issued for disabled parking isolations.
In 2016, police issued 2,761 tickets for disabled parking violations.
In a statement, the police said illegal parking ‘that can be easily be resolved, as long as we realise that the roads are not our own, they belong to everyone’.
