Local sounds in local bars

Two local bands are getting ready to rock our music scene once again, making sure we have yet another reason to remember November.

First up will be the jazz trio TriCoolOre in Nicosia on Saturday, followed by The Low Spark in Larnaca next Friday.

TriCoolOre, who are Angelos Doukas on keyboards, Vasilis Vasiliou on drums and percussion, and Nikos Doukas on electrical bass and loops, fuse different musical styles and win audiences over with their unique sound. They bring together explosive rhythms, nostalgic vibes and traditional melodies to create their mark of authenticity.

Their debut album, Oregano Infused, hit the island two years ago, and ever since fans have been moving to their sounds, which have a decidedly Mediterranean touch and are very much influenced by traditional Greek music.

From jazz to a more rock sound, the band The Low Spark will return to Savino Live on November 10 to show us what they do best, i.e. make and perform good music.

The band, who are Lefteris Moumtzis on vocals and bass, Louis Pafitis on guitar and Stephanos Meletiou on drums, came together in 2009. Even before they got together, the musicians were already playing a big part on the local music scene, but once they became a unit their unique influence became even more apparent.
Originally the boys were a cover band, but they slowly moved away from making hits out of hits and started to compose their own material.
