Park for children with mobility issues to be built in Aglantzia

The council of ministers on Tuesday approved the creation of a park for children with mobility problems in Nicosia’s Aglantzia.

The decision was announced by President Nicos Anastasiades on Twitter, where he said the government is creating “a better quality of life for our children.”

In a statement shortly after leaving the Presidential Palace, Justice minister Ionas Nicolaou confirmed the decision, saying that “the ministerial council has approved a proposal from the Ministry of Justice to give a space near the police headquarters, next to the traffic education park to the municipality of Aglantzia, which will be responsible for designing and managing a park for children with mobility problems.”

“It is a park that will help the socialisation of these children,” he added, “it is an important measure that was lacking in our society.”

Nicolaou announced the park will cost €100,000 to construct, 85 per cent of which will be paid by the Cyprus Sports Organisation and the rest by betting giant Opap. The land for the park has been donated by police.
