Two women injured in boat accident in Ayia Napa

A woman was seriously injured and another was slightly injured in a boat accident in Ayia Napa on Sunday when the craft they were in was hit by another vessel.

The accident happened around 3pm when an inflatable boat used for water sports was being towed out to sea with three passengers and it was hit by another boat.

The two women were injured in the collision but the third escaped unharmed. They were taken to Famagusta hospital while the drivers of the two boats were taken to the Ayia Napa police station.

The department of merchant shipping, the competent authority to launch an investigation, was informed.
