Pulmonary embolism caused woman’s death, post mortem shows

The cause of death of a 30-year-old woman, who died suddenly in her home in Latsia, Nicosia, on Thursday afternoon, was a pulmonary embolism, the post mortem showed on Friday.

The woman had been battling obesity, among other health-related issues, and was immobile for long periods.

Bloodclots are considered a common result of immobility.

The cause of death was identified in a post-mortem conducted by state pathologist Angeliki Papetta.

As reported on Thursday, the woman had been at home with a friend of hers, when she suddenly collapsed shortly after 6pm.

An ambulance rushed to the scene, but paramedics found that the woman had already died.
