Reaching new theatrical heights

The phrase ‘dreams in the air’ could mean to some that the dreams are present and possible, or to others that they are elusive and out of our reach. When it comes to the performance created and directed by visual-theatre director, puppeteer, stage artist and skilled medical clown Avital Dvory, however, it means the telling of a story that literally reaches a number of acrobatic heights.

As part of the Faneromeni17 festival in the courtyard of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Nicosia, and in collaboration with the Embassy of Israel in Cyprus, this unique theatrical experience will have us looking upwards on Thursday at 9pm.

The performance perfectly integrates acting, circus, puppetry and music to tell the story of a little girl who’s afraid to sleep at night because of the night elf.

Inspired by a bedtime story, she sets out on a journey within her own bedroom. In the course of this adventure the little girl will discover her own courage and strength.

Using artistic expression, creation and communication as a platform to deal with issues like fear, trust, friendship, and the relationship between reality and imagination, Dreams in the Air is bound to stir your emotions and curiosity.

Dvory’s work specialises in exploring the integration of several art forms and harmoniously blending them together on stage. She has been awarded numerous prizes and has been invited to international art festivals around the world.

On the night of the event, the Foundation’s museums and exhibitions will remain open until midnight.
