House tables bill on labour inspection

The House labour committee has finished discussing a bill providing for the creation of a new inspection service at the labour ministry aimed at clamping down on undeclared employment and other irregularities.

A plenum will vote on the bill next week.

The inspection service, which will be tasked with making sure there are no violations of the almost 30 laws relating to employment matters, will have extended powers and will work under the minister of labour to carry out targeted inspections on the basis of risk analysis. It will also be equipped with modern software that will make the monitoring of businesses easier, and will be able to issue fines in cases of irregularities.

The plenum will also discuss a bill on the extension of the window for filing claims for redundancy pay to 24 months, and several other bills concerning raising the income ceiling for receiving the child allowance, the introduction of the paternity leave, and surrogacy.
