A total of 14 products, most of them potentially dangerous toys, may be on the market in Cyprus and have been recalled, according to a Rapex (Rapid Alert System for non-food dangerous products) announcement on Monday.
Outlining 35 dangerous products across EU member states, 14 may be on the market in Cyprus. The Cyprus Protection Service has begun inspections in the market, according to a statement.
Among the dangerous items are dressing up costumes, a kitchen set and an archery set.
The first item is a costume, model 91.115, brand name PROFISA, barcode number 8426215911153, made in China. Small items from the costume easily detach themselves and pose a risk of choking.
The second item is a children’s kitchen set with the BULLYCAN brand, model 3320, code number 13039000321 and barcode number 8413419232184, made in China. According to the announcement, it poses a risk of choking in case any of the small items, which easily come off the set, are swallowed.
An archery toy set YANI brand has also been recalled. The model number is J500054 and barcode number 80330670000342 made in China. The product poses risks of swallowing small parts of the products.
A costume, model PZ28580, brand name SMARTY PARTY, barcode 8578083024913 made in China has been recalled due to a risk of strangling from strings on the costume.
A witch’s hat, model reference 257-3389, brand name JUGUETES PASTOR, bar code 0202570033895, made in China, poses a risk of burning due to it being highly flammable.
Fruit looking candles, model reference 404062, brand RS, barcode 8800884040626, made in China pose a risk to children that may perceive them to be real fruit and consume them or put the candles in their mouth.
The same risk is posed for product number seven – candles which look like candy, reference number 404037, brand RS, barcode number 8800884040374 and made in China.
Another archery toy, Norbi-Toys brand, barcode 5901289077798 made in China, poses a risk of choking stemming from possible ingestion of parts that are easily detached from the toy.
Product number nine is listed as a police toy with an unknown brand, made in China. There is a risk of choking from small parts that may be swallowed.
A game containing a toy gun, arrow, knife and arrows of an unknown brand, model number 2016 made in China poses the same risk of swallowing.
Another costume, model reference 706030-T00-0000, brand name EUROCARNAVALES, barcode 8423667077345 made in China, a puzzle mat brand SUN TA TOYS REGIO JATEK model numbers 1017 and 1008M barcodes 5996055493360 and 5996055477117 made in Malaysia pose a risk of choking from possible ingestion of small parts.
A soft toy which can also be used as a jacked model reference 98053 brand JAY@PLAY, product code 14004305015, SK02-01/15L20504 barcode 8436531980535 made in China carries a risk of choking stemming from the zip.
A bubble blowing product from the General De Juguettes brand with barcode 4030681003874 made in Spain carries a microbiological risk of mesophiles in the liquid.
