Saturday will be a classical night

Saturday offers a night of class with an evening of opera in Nicosia and an evening of classical and contemporary ballet in Limassol.

The Young Russian Ballet, directed by Anastasia Sverchkova, will present the Spectacular Glory of Ballet on Saturday in Limassol.

The performance represents the exceptional beauty, technique, emotion and passion of ballet. It celebrates classical ballet masterpieces such as Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, La Sylphide, Flames of Paris as well as contemporary ballet choreographies.

This is the first time the ballet company will perform on our island, and offers ballet fans the chance to see an ensemble of extraordinary soloists unfolding the depth and breadth of the classical and contemporary ballet repertoire.

While Limassol gets an insight into the world of ballet, Nicosia will get acquainted with the world of opera.

After a performance in Paphos earlier this month, soprano Ester Ustaeva from St Petersburg will once again pair up with maestro Yiannis Hadjiloizou for a live concert.

Ustaeva started singing at the age of four, and is also a trained pianist. She joined the St Petersburg Music Lyceum, where she studied in the conductor-choral department. She is a graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and has shared the stage with singers like

Vladimir Samsonov, Evgeny Akimov and Ildar Abdrazakov.
She made her Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2015 at the Oktyabrsky Grand Concert Hall.

Hadjiloizou, from Nicosia, has made a name for himself as a conductor, pianist and composer around the world. He has toured four continents and dozens of countries performing a vast repertoire ranging from opera to jazz, symphonic to world, chamber to contemporary.

The concert will include arias and songs by Rossini, Mozart, Rimsky Korsakov, Gershwin, Kálmán, Puccini, Loewe, Bellini, Gounod, and more.
