The National Theatre in Nicosia and Limassol

George Bernard Shaw’s masterpiece Saint Joan will be broadcast on Rialto and Thoc screens on Tuesday at 8.30pm, as performed at the National Theatre.

The play concentrates on the 15th century French military figure Joan of Arc. Joan, who was a daughter, farm girl, visionary, patriot, king-whisperer, soldier, leader, victor, icon, radical, witch, heretic, saint, martyr and a woman, was a fighter and inspiration to everyone.

Saint Joan dramatises what is known of her life based on the substantial records of her trial and depicts a woman with all the instinct, zeal and transforming power of a revolutionary.

Josie Rourke (Coriolanus, Les Liaisons Dangereuses) directs Gemma Arterton (Gemma Bovery, Nell Gwynn, Made in Dagenham) as Joan of Arc in this masterpiece.
