Army officer diagnosed with meningitis

The army said it was taking all necessary measures after a female non-commissioned officer serving in Famagusta fell ill with bacterial meningitis.

According to a written statement, the officer was diagnosed on Tuesday.

Her condition has improved and no other incidents have been recorded, neither in the unit, nor at home.

The army said personnel serving in the same area as the officer have been provided medication as a precaution.
