Paphos has highest number of expat voters

PAPHOS district has by far the biggest number of expatriate voters, permanent residents from other EU member states, who are eligible to elect and be elected in local government, as well as for members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

Of the 16,740 registered ‘EU community’ voters, 6,048 are Greek nationals, followed by 5,320 Britons, according to Demetris Demetriou, chief returning officer at the Interior Ministry.

The next significant national groupings are Bulgaria (808 registered voters) and Romania (641).

Of all registered foreign national voters, just under half, or 8,106 are in Paphos, of whom 3,387 are British. Limassol is the next biggest for UK expats with 1,239, followed by Larnaca district (370), Famagusta (224) and Nicosia (100).
