If you are working your way through an advent calendar you will know that there are 18 days until the big day. And there are only two weekends in that sum, so if you haven’t done all your Christmas gift shopping – and you would like to go with something a little different – then we give you a book fair or a gallery shop as a choice of places to shop from in Nicosia.

The book fair, entitled Book Me, will open its doors on Saturday at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in the old town.

A number of bookshops, namely Solonion Book Centre, Parga, Kyriakos P. Kyriakou, Hellas, Filotheou, Mavromatis, En Typois, MAM, Rivergate, Vivliochora and Bibliophile, will come together to give you lots and lots of selection.

The one-day event will give book lovers the chance to flick through books on a number of subjects, while also having the chance to participate in parallel activities, including educational story-telling and lectures by prominent authors and poets such as Soti Triantafyllou, Panos Kyparissis and Aristea Papalexandrou who will speak on the importance of creation and inspiration.

The Cultural Foundation will also offer more than 200 publications and collector items from its shop at lower prices.

Now, if you have a friend who loves art and going to galleries, then the selection of collectors’ items at the Leventis Gallery shop may help you tick them off your list.

There are cards, jewellery, items for men, women and children, as well as things to be used around the house. All items are inspired by the art in the gallery.
