Lift at Larnaca airport aids people with reduced mobility

Larnaca airport has purchased new equipment for people with reduced mobility and disabilities.

The Eagle Passenger Lifter is designed to lift passengers from their own wheelchair into an airport wheelchair or aisle chair and vice versa, thus avoiding manual handling.

“The system does not replace wheelchairs since its role is supportive by facilitating the travelling needs of people with reduced mobility and disabilities, both during their placement and removal to and from their aircraft seats,” an announcement by Airport operator Hermes said on Tuesday.

“The acquisition of the Larnaca international airport system Eagle Passenger Lifter comes just a few months after receiving the European distinction for the high-quality services offered at Cyprus’ airports to people with disabilities,” the statement continued.

The new service is already available at the airport. More information is available on www.hermesairports.com
