Tornado hits Paphos farms, as cold front continues

A tornado caused damage to farms in Paphos with the owners appealing to the state for help.

The tornado struck the areas of Ahelia, Anarita and Timi at around 8pm, ripping apart roofs made of corrugated metal sheets and uprooting trees.

Christodoulos Papaminas, from Anarita, said his potato harvest had been destroyed and his pen was damaged extensively.

Another farmer, Costas Constantinou, said some of his animals were killed by a collapsed roof.

Meanwhile, the Met Service said there was a possibility of snow on Troodos on Wednesday night while the weather will be mainly cloudy with local showers and isolate storms.

Temperatures will drop to 10 degrees Celsius inland, 14 in coastal areas, and 3 in higher areas.

Thursday will bring more rain and isolate storms with snow in Troodos a possibility.

Inland temperatures will be around 14 degrees, with 16 in coastal areas and 5 on the mountains.

Friday will be cloudy at first with some rain and a possibility of snow in higher areas. The weather will gradually improve, but temperatures will record a small drop.

The weather over the weekend is expected to be mainly clear with some clouds periodically.
