The treasures tales give out

The third Cyprus Storytelling Festival is about to get us all nostalgic for great storytelling but also excited about sharing well-known and new stories with our children.

In Paphos the festival will take place at Technopolis 20 Cultural Centre on Saturday. For at least two hours both adults and children will share in enjoying the oral tradition of making stories come alive by them being read out, by music being played and by songs being sung.

There will be two performances on the day. The first will be Aladdin-Konstantis at 11am. Konstantis – who is a variant of the famous story of Aladdin – begins to discover the world through difficulties and obstacles. However, he learns that even if you have three magical wishes, the most important skills in life are knowledge, faith in yourself, truth, love and friendship.

The show, which will have live music and original songs by Aspa Papadopoulou, will be narrated by George Evgenikos and music will be played by Emmanuel Paliakis.

The second performance, at noon, will bring to our ears stories from Asia Minor. The stories, which are made to awaken memories, will be narrated by Dorita Vaskarides and are suitable for children from nine-years-old and adults.

The narrations will be in Greek and the entrance fee is €5 per performance. There is a discount of 20 per cent for three-member families.
