Injured hunter airlifted to hospital

Specialists units from the police and fire services on Wednesday treated a hunter, who had injured his leg and was stuck in an inaccessible area, before airlifting him to hospital.

The fire services conducted the rescue operation, which began at around 8.20am, in the area of Mathikolonis Akrountas, near Panayia Amyrous monastery in the Limassol district. Their Ayios Nicolaos station responded to a call for help, which they relayed to their specialist disaster response unit (Emak).

The man, who was stuck in an inaccessible rugged area about three kilometres from the nearest road was given first aid treatment before being placed on a stretcher and airlifted to hospital by a police helicopter from their air operations unit.
