Man runs red light, found in contempt of range of laws

A 37-year-old man was caught driving drunk, while his car had no licence plates, no road tax, no insurance and no MOT certificate in Limassol early on Saturday, and police found a hunting shotgun with 24 shells in the vehicle.

According to a police report, shortly before 2am on Saturday, Limassol CID men patrolling the streets of Limassol saw a car without registration plates running a red light.

After chasing and stopping the car, they found that it was driven by a 37-year-old and that its roadworthiness certificate, road tax licence, and insurance had expired.

A breathalyzer test showed the driver was almost three times over the alcohol limit and he was arrested.

A search of his car revealed he had been carrying a hunting shotgun and 24 shells illegally, and they were seized as evidence.
