After app, police get new website

THE police launch a new website on Friday which will run in parallel to their existing app.

“From the time we launched the app, we had it in the back of our minds to link it with the web page,” said Matheos Siamptanis, designer of the page.

“In contrast with the old website, our new one is directly connected with the Cyprus police app. It is mobile responsive, includes photographic and video content, and is a lot faster than the old site.”

Police say the site www.cypruspolicenews.com and mobile.cypruspolicenews.com is more user-friendly with a constant flow of news, information, pictures and video and is easily accessible through mobile phones and tablets, as well as computers.

The launch of the new site comes two years after that of the force’s smartphone and tablet application which features an online complaints form for reporting child pornography, online fraud, hacking and racism.

The app is available for free and is supported by both Android and Apple platforms as well as tablets, providing users access to a number of services including helpful police phone numbers, tourist information, the ability to pay fines and useful information for those travelling abroad.

It has the ability to call the emergency services directly and provides people with the latest news, on any road closures and has links to the police YouTube and Facebook pages, as well as the cybercrime unit.
