Limassol raids net over €100,000

Police arrested a man, confiscating over €100,000 in cash found stashed in his bathroom following coordinated raids in Limassol district on Tuesday.

“A large coordinated operation for the detection of weapons, explosives and drugs was carried out this morning by various departments of Limassol police,” a statement from the force said.

Taking part in the operation were Limassol based officers of the criminal investigation department, along with the departments responsible for law enforcement, crime prevention, emergency response and MMAD, in addition to the dogs and handlers of the K9 unit.

“Investigations were carried out in eight houses and two other premises in the city and district of Limassol,” the statement continued. “In the house of a 48-year-old in a Limassol district village the amount of €102,790 in cash was discovered in a cupboard in the toilet in a paper envelope.”

The man was arrested for the illegal possession of property and held to facilitate investigations.
