Larnaca to host international conference on drone use

An international conference on “The use of RPAS/drones and the impact on aviation safety and security / Challenges and Opportunities” will take place in Larnaca on October 21.

According to a press release, the conference is being organised by the Flight Safety Foundation- Mediterranean ( FSF-MED ), with the support of the government and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). A senior ICAO official will chair the conference, that will be addressed by the Director of the ICAO EUR Office.

A large number of experts and representatives of state authorities, European and professional organisations as IATA, ACI, CANSO, JAATO and various countries will present the possible dangers and positive results from the use of drones.

FSF-MED Chief executive officer Christos Petrou said the conference has particular importance for Cyprus, since both ICAO and other international organisations that will participate play an important role as regards the problems which Cyprus faces with Turkey concerning civil aviation issues and particularly flight safety.
