Eagle-eyed driver spots stolen motorbike as it overtook him, chases down perp and immobilises him

Police on Sunday arrested a 35-year-old Limassol resident for motorcycle theft after he was spotted on the bike by a driver who happened to work for the company from where the vehicle was stolen.

According to police, the 40-year-old employee was driving on a road in Limassol at around 12.30pm on Sunday and was being overtaken by the motorcyle when he recognised the vehicle as having been stolen from his company’s premises a month ago.

The 40-year-old followed the motorcycle, alerting the rider, who at some point lost control and fell off. He then tried to escape on foot but the older man chased him down and immobilised him after having called the police.

The 35-year-old was arrested, taken straight to court and remanded for five days.
