KEO dismisses Archbishop’s comments on merger with Carlsberg

Beverage producer KEO Ltd said that it is not considering or looking at the possibility of a merger with any other company, refuting comments made by Archbishop Chrysostomos in a recent interview.

The comments in the archbishop’s interview “are a matter of personal assessment which was not submitted to the company’s board,” KEO said in a statement on the website of the Cyprus Stock Exchange on Wednesday, three days after the interview to Sigmalive.com was published.

In his interview to Sigmalive, the archibishop said that he was in talks with Photos Photiades Group which brews and distributes Carlsberg beer in Cyprus about a possible merger with KEO which also brews its own beer.
KEO is owned directly or indirectly to two thirds by the Church of Cyprus.
