In rubbish, there can be much richness

A great way to teach kids not the leave litter on the beach is coming up on Saturday in the form of an educational beach clean-up and then a creative workshop.

The event, organised by the AKTI Project and Research centre, hopes to extend the centre’s objective of raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable development.

Children will firstly participate in a beach clean-up in Larnaca. During the collection, they will learn how to use an internationally recognised protocol for separating and recording of the collected marine litter. With hands on experience, they will learn about the main sources of marine litter, its impact on the environment, people and the economy. While looking at the problems and understanding how they affect everyone, the children will also be given the chance to voice any possible solutions.

After collecting as much litter as possible from the beach, the participating children will be able to use this information and their personal experience as sources and inspiration for the creation of their own art pieces, made out of the marine litter they collected from the beach.

If you are interested in getting your kids involved, send an email to [email protected] or call 99-083974 to tell the organisers you are coming.
