Mother loses baby after abducting her other children

A young mother who abducted her three underage children from a shelter in Paphos where they were staying under the guardianship of the courts, was arrested early Thursday and has subsequently lost the care of her fourth child, a one year old baby.

Paphos police said they are investigating a case of abduction of minors from their legal guardian following a complaint from the Welfare Department.

Police issued an arrest warrant against the 25-year-old mother, who allegedly kidnapped the three children from the shelter, arresting and detaining her in a house in Paphos at around 3am.

The children – aged nine, eight and five – were in the care of a Paphos shelter, which has been made ward of court.

The three abducted children and the baby were taken to the Welfare Office and subsequently returned to the children’s shelter.
