Bushfire near Lofou

A bushfire raging near Lofou, Limassol, on Saturday, was put under partial control late in the afternoon, the fire service reported.

The fire has burnt through eight hectares of dry bush but posed no threat to residential areas.

Strong winds increase the risk of a flare-up and complicated the task of putting out the fire, which has thus far committed 12 vehicles and five aircraft, three leased by Cyprus and two helicopters from the British bases.
