Naked man arrested at Limassol post office, taken to Athalassa

Authorities arrested a 42-year-old man on Tuesday who had taken his clothes off at the central post office of Limassol.

According to reports, the man arrived at the post office at around 11am, took his clothes off and started wandering outside the building talking incoherently. At one point, he wore some of his clothes on his head and attempted to enter the building. Employees called the police, who arrested him.

Several passersby filmed the man with their mobile phones, and posted photos online.

The man, who had run-ins with the police in the past for petty theft and drug use, was taken to the Athalassa mental hospital as he was diagnosed with severe psychological problems. He was admitted to the Athalassa hospital previously in 2011.

He was also wanted recently by the police after he spent several days in a Limassol beach hotel, and left an unpaid bill amounting to several thousands of euros.
