Music in the park

After a very rainy May, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra can finally have its day in the park and invites everyone to take picnic blankets to enjoy an outdoor performance at the Acropolis park in Nicosia on Saturday.

But if you are thinking that orchestra music is boring, you will be pleasantly surprised to hear that the orchestra will perform a variety of music, including musical tales for the little ones, passionate tangos – for the lovers out there – popular classics, and timeless jazz pieces.

Get children interested in music with the story of Babar, the Little Elephant. The story will be brought to life with a narration by actor Petros Georgadis while the orchestra adds a little melody to stir the imagination.

Soloists Miodrag Djordjevic and Nenad Ljubenovic will bring the In Tango Rhythm alive with their accordions, and then Alkis Baltas will conduct the orchestra to perform symphonic works by Handel, Haydn, Rossini and Bizet.

The evening will end with a selection of jazz pieces from Charlie Parker With Strings.
