For a world without leukaemia

For some of us hair is a nuisance that we have to deal with and style every morning but for others it is something that is very much missed. Not counting the balding population, we can all help those losing their hair in the battle against cancer.

The Karaiskakio foundation together with the Ronald McDonald House Charities Cyprus are organising two Head Shave Challenge Days, in Nicosia and Limassol, over the weekend.

This is the second year the two organisations are coming together to contribute to creating a world without leukaemia.

For the Nicosia crowd, the event will be on Saturday at the Mall of Cyprus from 11am until 6pm and for those in Limassol, the event will run at My Mall, again from 11am until 6pm. If the hair that has been cut is long enough, it will be made into wigs.

There will also be a live link with KLIK FM with project manager and radio presenter Angelos Iacovides to keep the event upbeat and spread the word.

The non-profit Karaiskakio foundation was set-up by the Leukaemia Cancer Society to locate volunteer bone marrow donors who are compatible with blood cancer patients needing bone marrow transplants.

Each haircut costs a minimum of €10 but you can always dig a little deeper and give a little extra.
