Greek PM passes on message of Russian support for Cyprus

Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, said that Russia firmly supports a Cyprus solution without occupation armies or the anachronistic system of guarantees.
Putin, who is on a visit to Greece, held a meeting on Friday with the Greek Prime Minister, while the two countries signed a series of agreements.

In his statements after the meeting, Tsipras stressed the important role of Russia in a series of issues, giving emphasis to the Cyprus problem.
Tsipras referred to Russia`s firm support for a just solution in Cyprus, based on the relevant UN decisions, international law and without occupation armies or the anachronistic system of guarantees.

The Russian President held a meeting later on with President of the Greek opposition party, New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with whom he also discussed the Cyprus issue.

In statements after the meeting, Mitsotakis said that apart from bilateral relations, “which we both agree are excellent” they discussed about the Cyprus problem, the situation in the wider region and the party`s positions about the reforms that have to take place in Greece. (CNA)
