New MP contingent not entirely made up of lawyers

As regards professions, the new faces are bringing more diversity to the House than the traditional mix of lawyers.

DISY’s new blood in parliament includes a hydrocarbons expert, Solon Kassinis, and a marketing executive, Demetris Demetriou, who studied computer technologies.

Eleni Stavrou has a degree in war studies and a post-doctoral degree in strategic studies, while Annita Demetriou has a degree in International relations and European studies.

Mariella Aristidou has a degree in French language and literature and in journalism, and Onoufrios Koulla is an economist, Giorgos Karoullas is a teacher, also an associate lecturer at the University of Cyprus.

AKEL’S new MPs consist of two political scientists, Stefanos Stefanou and Eleni Mavrou, a lawyer Evanthia Savva, and a journalist, Nicos Kettiros. Giorgos Georgiou has a degree in history-archaeology and has worked as a secondary education teacher.

DIKO’s newcomers’ team includes two lawyers, Christiana Erotokriou and Panikos Leonidou, a business and marketing expert, Marinos Mousiouttas, and an insurance expert, Christos Orphanides. Charalambos Pittokopitis has a degree in agriculture and forestry and an MBA.

EDEK’s Costas Efstathiou is a lawyer, and Elias Myrianthous an accountant

The allocation of one seat to Pavlos Mylonas with the Citizens’ Alliance puts one more journalist in parliament, and the Solidarity Movement brings to the House Michalis Giorgallas, a chemical engineer.

ELAM’s head and deputy, Christos Christou is a radiologist, and its second MP, Linos Papayiannis, an economist.
