Keeping creativity in the family

The upcoming exhibition at the House of Arts and Letters in Limassol on Tuesday is a family matter, as three generations of the same family will showcase their works.

Side-by-side, retired teacher Themis Louka will present a number of her paintings together with art work created by her children and grandchildren.

Louka’s oil paintings are mainly inspired by nature and her love for nature and art have been transferred to her two daughters Katia and Maria Louka. While Katia mainly draws with pastel and created images from the city of Famagusta, Maria – who is also an art teacher – prefers to work with oil paint, acrylic, watercolour, ceramics and mosaics.

The third generation to join the exhibition are Katia’s children, George and Loukas Constakopoulou and Maria’s daughter Themis Romina – who is just seven years old.

The grandchildren will go further with their subject matter, to include influences from other countries in their paintings. Engravings and ceramics are also part of the third generation collection.
